Thanks
to Ginger and Jack Rawlins for these pictures of the
Class of 1949 60th Reunion this past weekend.
I
believe this was the best one we the 49ers have
had--and we have had many.
To start the weekend, we
had Jay and Wina Bates serving snacks at our mixer,
then we thoroughly enjoyed seeing the Yellow Jackets
beat McKinney 75 to 37 (someone said I didn't enjoy
the game after Denison got so far ahead. My
response was I enjoyed every minute of it and always
do when my team is winning--can't get too lopsided
for me.
Saturday we had a good time
at the breakfast at the "new" to us, Denison High
School. Then more mixer in the afternoon. The
finale was the greatest we have had. Marvin Vincent
and a professional video person put together a CD
with all the pictures we had collected from our
class members and had music to go with it--along
with comments from Marvin about each person. In
addition a very solemn presentation was made
honoring all our deceased class members (about 64)
that brought tears to our eyes.
The food
was very good and Joann, along with several class
member, decorated the meeting hall. Ginger and her
daughter did a great job taking the attached
pictures. You can see most of the folks who were
there and the decorations in the pictures.
My guess
would be that around 100 to 125 people came to all
or part of the celebration activities--I didn't
count so we may get a better number when Joann mails
out her report.
I think
all of us from the class, spouses, and others from
other classes had a wonderful time visiting and
catching up with what has been going on in each
others life since high school.
One of
my favorite times was the close of activities by
singing our DHS
Alma Mater song--in fact we stood and sang it
twice!
If you
were unable to make this event, I am sorry because
it was worth every effort it took to attend--perhaps
the last one we will have--who knows.
